To my fellas...have you ever seen this FLY chick in the club, in the cafe, in the library, on the bus, train, or anywhere ever? From head to toe, she has it going on- everything you like in a woman, it seems she has- equipped in her outer appearance. From her legs to her lips, from her walk to her stance...She...is...BAD. You gather up your courage to go speak to her (or for the shy guys like me- you just wait for that chance to bump into her and have no choice but to talk), and when she opens her mouth you're just...like......egh.
Or for my ladies...have you even seen this dude who takes your mind off of the present every time you see him, and forces you to think about your future- with him? Maybe that's too storybook...so let me bring it down a notch. Have you ever seen a guy who seemed to be your type from head to toe- Swavor ("...mix the swag with the flavor-- yeah, you got swavor..."--J. Money) on point, so you couldn't help but want to get to know? You do your flirt thing, and catch his eye, and throw him foolproof hints that you want him to walk over and introduce himself...he may, but if he doesn't you walk over to him...aggressive...I like! You two start to talk, and as the conversation lengthens, your attraction to him lessens. He's boring, a square, or just not what you expected.
It's disappointing, and I've felt like this many times before.
It makes you frustrated...you wonder- 'why can't this person be as gorgeous on the inside as they are on the outside?'
Because finding someone like that is very rare and in between, because most attractive people know they're attractive, and they let it get to their head- most of the time. You'll probably be able to count the number of beautiful people on the inside and out on your two hands by the time you die...
It's sad...but it's life.
But what's worse than that is when you let this beauty blind you into falling into a relationship-- something as simple as a friendship to as complex as a committed relationship. Then, six months down the road, the person just changes up on you all of a sudden. Their make up starts to wear off and crack, and their real personality and true colors start to shine through. But who's to blame?
I know people change EVERY DAY. So is it your fault for putting your full trust in them? Trusting that they will never change? Believing that they would never hurt you?
Or is it their fault for changing, but not changing to favor you?
Hmm...think about it.
You may be driving down the street on this road called life, and see A LOT of mansions. They may attract you, and you may take the time to step inside...but then you MAY be utterly disappointed when you realize that there is nothing inside but emptiness-- or a disastrous mess.
We're programmed to drive by the run down trailer parks and shack houses and screw our faces up...yet those may be one of the rare places that you can find heat and comfort that posses just enough space for what's needed.
At the end of the day, what I'm trying to say is-- when you don't look past the beauty of a person, you may just end up falling for their mediocre, C rated personality.
Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Don't judge a person by their appearance.
Don't judge a Scantron by it's darkened bubbled in answers, because you NEVER know if the test bears a passing grade until you run it through the machine and check the answers.
Feel me?
